Mandalay Bay
Since its opening in 1999, Mandalay Bay has become one of the most popular hotels on the Strip. At night, rumjungle becomes one of the hippest night spots in town. Concerts are held in the arena or the House of Blues concert hall. During the day, there's a rare coin museum, a walk-through aquarium and several trendy restaurants.

Greenpeace Takes On Heathrow
Last week, Greenpeace announced that it had bought up a plot of land intended for Heathrow's proposed third runway. The environmental group intends to distribute the land among thousands of its supporters in an attempt to stymie Heathrow's expansion.

Disney's Coronado Springs
A moderately-priced resort near Disney's Animal Kingdom, the Coronado Springs Resort is inspired by the Southwest. Although it has the largest convention center on Disney property, this resort is also great for families with its beautiful grounds and water slide. The resort also boasts a large man-made lake around which the guest accomodations are situated. This can make for some long walks, depending on where you are staying, so be prepared.

Definite feel-good material.

Travel and the Oscars
Forget about the new president, the skyrocketing unemployment, or even George Clooney's latest acting turn. The real news this week is the announcement of the Academy Award nominations! And why do we care? Because this is one of the most travel-centric collections of films the Oscars have ever seen.
